The place you need to go to update R is CRAN - their website has download links for Windows, Mac, and Linux. After starting up, you should see the version corresponding to the one chosen on the website. When the file finishes downloading, double-click to install. Install the new version of R and let it do it’s thing. Updating R/RStudio/Tidyverse Click the link R-4.2.1. tmp <- installed.packages() installedpkgs <- as.vector(tmpis.na(tmp,'Priority'), 1) save(installedpkgs, file'installedold.rda') 2. Hence you were asking it the update the packages in library location R2jags which is most unlikely to exist on your R. That library location is given by the first argument (if not supplied it works on all known library locations for the current R session). The current RStudio version as I write this is 1.3.*, while the current R version is 4.0.*. Before you upgrade, build a temp file with all of your old packages. update.packages () exists to update all outdated packages in a stated library location. Given the version number you show, 3.4.0, you need to upgrade R (the language), not RStudio (the application). You can find the most recent version on the RStudio website, or you can look in the Help menu and select "Check for updates", which will give you a download link if a newer version is available. However, just like you can write English in programs other than Word, you can also write and run R code in programs other than RStudio. Much like Microsoft Word is a common tool for writing documents in English (or other languages - and in fact you can use RStudio to write files other languages like RMarkdown, Python, SQL, French, or Swahili.). 1 Like jbannon March 21, 2021, 1:18am 3 I use installr as well, but I don't think it works with RStudio. The updateR () function makes it very simple to update and move packages to the correct version. On Mac and Windows, the user usually needs to go download the new version of R and install it, so it is obvious when R is upgraded. However, I love using the installr package. This is a common tool for using R, which is a computer language. I'm not sure of the best way to update RStudio. RStudio is an application (specifically, an Integrated Development Environment, or IDE). To change the current version of R.Framework, you can either: Run the installer from CRAN for the R version you want to be current Use the RSwitch utility available at: Update the R.
